改革开放以来，中国长江流域建设的成就举世瞩目，成为国家经济重心所在、活力所在。然而，伴随着工业化和城镇化的快速推进，一系列问题开始突显，例如自然生态环境破坏、区域发展水平不均衡、土地粗放低效利用、功能空间不合理、人居环境质量挑战严峻、社区发展滞后等。
新时代的长江经济带以“共抓大保护，不搞大开发”为关键发展理念，深入推动长江经济带的绿色发展正处于关键的战略节点。大河流域可持续发展在于维持流域系统的生态、环境和水文系统性，同时充分满足大流域当代及未来的社会发展目标。如何以可持续发展理念引导流域综合开发、解决流域生态修复、社会经济包容发展、人居环境品质提升等热点需求，已经成为长江经济带乃至中国由高速发展转向高质量发展的关键挑战。
重庆大学于2019年搭建了“长江经济带景观与生态国际青年论坛”平台。首届论坛在风景园林学、生态学及其他相关学科产生了积极影响。为了进一步发挥论坛作用，我们拟于2020年12月19日，举办“第二届长江经济带景观与生态国际青年论坛(线上会议)”。诚邀海内外学者聚焦新形势下长江流域可持续发展，通过探讨碰撞、思辨融合，为推动长江经济带生态、经济和社会的可持续发展提供思路，开拓研究路径，催化设计创新，共同推进长江经济带的健康发展。
Since the reform and opening up, the achievements of China's Yangtze River basin development have attracted worldwide attention and become the focus and vitality of the national economy. However, a series of severe challenges arises along with the rapid industrialization and urbanization of Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB), such as the destruction of natural environment, the imbalance of regional development, inefficient use of land, threats facing the quality of human settlements environment, etc.
In the new era, the YREB is focusing on the ecological protection rather than the vigorous development. Its sustainable development not only lies in maintaining the ecosystem and hydrologic system of the large river basin, but also fully meeting the current and future social development goals. The notion has become the key challenge for both YREB and China in transiton from high-speed development to high-quality development.
Chongqing University set up the international Youth Forum on Landscape and Ecology of the Yangtze River Economic Belt in 2019. The first forum was very successful and had a significant impact on landscape architecture, ecology and other related disciplines. We propose to hold the “2nd International Youth Forum on Landscape and Ecology of the Yangtze River Economic Belt (Online Conference)“ on December 19th, 2020.
We sincerely invite you to share advanced concepts and successful experience of landscape architecture and ecology under different context. We look forward to having outstanding young talents to mobilize the vision, exchange knowledge and novel technology, that are of value to the current issues and future opportunities of YREB.
